ABOUT THE TREK
ITINERARY
The starting point of the trek and the old capital of Kullu Manali, Nagar is just 21kms away. To reach the village Nashala you need to take a nature road that leads through beautiful Deodar forests. Then walk gradually for about for 4-5 hours and reach the destination of the day, village Jana(1189mtrs.).Stay overnight at the cam and enjoy delicious food.
After morning breakfast trek forward to Matikochar. A well built road leads to Matikochar(2100mtrs.)which is about 10kms from Jana. It will take 5-6 hours to reach Matikochar where one can view the very lovely Kullu valley and the surrounding snow-clad peaks. The lights of the Kullu town can be viewed from the camp. Rest overnight and enjoy the bonfire and dinner.
After morning breakfast walk gradually through the Kais wildlife sanctuary that leads to a temple of Lord Shiva which is about 10kms from Matikochar. The twin valleys of river Beas and Parvati can be seen from the camp at Bijli Mahadev(2400mtrs.). There is a temple of Lord Shiva here in which a “Lingam” made of curd and butter is worshiped. There is a tall pole alongside the temple is situated, As per legend Lord Shiva defeated A demon here and after every 14th year a thunder strikes on the pole and breaks the “Lingam”, after that priests of the temple come and reunite the “Lingam” with curd and butter. One can experience the utmost spirituality with mesmerizing view of Himalaya. Stay overnight at the camp. enjoy bonfire with some delicious food.
After morning breakfast trek down to the Chansari village which is about 3kms from Bijli Mahadev, one can take a taxi from here to Kullu town which is about 10kms or can hike down to Kullu town.
